Library

Welcome to the Sanborn Media Center!

“Be curious, take risks, but most importantly, keep your imagination loaded and ready to play”.

- John Janezic

Here at Sanborn, we truly believe that our library is the heart of the school. We encourage our students to check out a variety of books that meet their interests and reading levels. During library, students receive grade-appropriate lessons on information literacy and district library standards as well as checking out books! We have over 14,000 different titles and over 25,000 books in circulation. We also have a parent resource center, so come down and check out some books today!

Check-out Policies:

Kindergarten and 1st grade: 1 book

2nd-6th grade: 2 books

Students with overdue books will not be able to check out new material until the overdue book is returned. If a book is lost or damaged, it will need to be paid for before regular check-out can resume.

Books may be paid for using InTouch through Infinite Campus. This is the same way field trip fees are paid.

View our library catalog by clicking the link to Destiny Card Catalog.

Library Schedule:

Kindergarten through 6th-grade students visit the library once every 6 days during the specials rotation schedule.

Library Volunteers:

We would love your help shelving and organizing books in our library. You can set your own hours and come and go when it is convenient for you. We provide free training as well! We are thankful for your help. Please email Mr. Janezic for more information or to set up a schedule at janezic.john@cusd80.com.

Battle of the Books

5th and 6th-grade students team up in groups of 2 or 3 students. Student teams read the required books per quarter. During the quarter, students meet after school in the media center with club sponsors Mrs. Davis and Mr. Janezic. During these meetings, we talk books, ask questions, write questions, read, and eat donut holes.

Meet the Media Specialist

My name is Mr. John Janezic (Mr. J). I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Arizona in the fall of 2000 to escape the long, cold winters. I am married to my beautiful wife Jennifer for the last 26 years. We don’t have any children but we do have pets. We have 4 cats. Bella, Chloe, Maui, and Meka as well as a 6-foot long corn snake named Willie, and a Blue Degu named Daisy. If you don't know what a Degu is, make sure to Google it.

Kids Need to Read

Mr. J. volunteers at Kids Need To Read. Founded with a passion to improve the lives of disadvantaged children by providing inspiring book collections and engaging literacy programs to underfunded schools, libraries, and organizations across the nation, Kids Need to Read aspires to empower and embolden every last child through a culture of reading. For many of the children it serves, Kids Need to Read represents a crucial link to a strong literacy education, and its programs help build and nurture support systems for the development of literate minds.
